The Fort Worth Football Officials (FWFO) is dedicated to making football a great experience for young athletes. By providing trained and certified officials, FWFO ensures that high school and junior high games across Texas—covering Tarrant, Dallas, Parker, and surrounding counties—are officiated with fairness, professionalism, and integrity.
Joining FWFO is a straightforward process, and it’s a great opportunity for anyone passionate about football. Here’s what you need to do:
🏈 Register with TASO & FWFO – Sign up through the Texas Association of Sports Officials (TASO) and FWFO. The first-year membership fee is $65, covering your initial dues.
🏈 Attend Training Sessions – Learning the ropes is key! Training is held on Monday evenings, where new and experienced officials refine their skills and stay updated on game rules.
🏈 Get Your Gear – To officiate, you’ll need essential equipment like:
✔️ A 2” striped referee shirt
✔️ A black hat with white piping
✔️ Black pants and shorts with a white stripe
✔️ Other standard officiating gear
Starter kits cost $125 to $175, but you’ll make this back after officiating a few games!
📌 Sub-Varsity Games – You pick your own assignments through the FWFO website, selecting games that match your availability and location.
📌 Varsity Games – These are assigned by the Varsity Assignment Secretary and the Varsity Assignment Committee.
💰 Game Pay Rates
Varsity Officials: Paid according to UIL (University Interscholastic League) guidelines, ranging from $75 to over $150, depending on gate revenue.
